Cleveland, Ohio’s weekend-long Ingenuity Festival has evolved as a model for a new kind of urban festival that entertains, educates, advocates and demonstrates. Interactive artwork and installations, hi-tech displays, live music, dance, opera, and theater, original studio art, and a host of children’s activities. Ingenuity and its founder and Executive Director, James Levin, have been acknowledged with numerous awards for this innovative festival, including the Governor’s Award by the Ohio Arts Council in the spring of 2007, honoring the “community impact” of the first two years of the Ingenuity Festival.
World-class artists from across the United States and around the world will present original works along with the finest of Northeast Ohio’s performing and visual artists. High technology firms, NASA, and major colleges and universities from Northeast Ohio and the region will engage attendees with the latest scientific innovations. Attendees have come to expect the unexpected, whether it’s opera in an alley or two people playing “Mindball” by controlling a ball with brainwave activity!

The 2008 Ingenuity Festival Friday night “kick-off” event will be geared toward attracting the thousands of people who work downtown to an evening of music, art, technology and fun. Festival programming continues throughout Saturday, Saturday night, and Sunday, with continuing entertainment, interactive exhibitions, a children’s village and an exciting outdoor evening laser show.

Once again, Ingenuity will be located in Playhouse Square Center (including many of its 7 historic theatres), E. 14th Street, Star Plaza, Idea Center, and a variety of under-utilized storefronts and alleys around Playhouse Square.
